I’m counting down the days until I head to Europe next month, and starting to think about packing.
I always get carried away with prints and colors for summertime – after all, when else is more appropriate/fun to wear them! – but I also love a white lace vacation dress. White is crisp, fresh and gives me the option to wear color elsewhere, like a bright pair of sandals or funky clutch. I’m usually more likely to wear colorful accessories on a vacation and stick to neutrals at home, so white allows me to throw on anything without thinking twice.
I bought this peekaboo lace sleeved dress for Coachella, but once I tried it on I realized it had more of a summer vacation vibe than festival, so I saved it for summer. It also comes in a black option. It’s breezy, comfortable and inexpensive (and fits true to size). My straw fedora comes with me on any warm weather vacation now. I wear a felt fedora at home all the time, but there’s something about straw that gives any outfit into a getaway vibe. Speaking of hats, can anyone tell me how to properly pack a hat? I always end up carrying three through security, and it’s a disaster! I can’t live without them though.
I’m a die-hard Zimmermann fan and I had to have these lace-up sandals when I saw them in the boutique last summer. As much as I love them, I must say they don’t make it out of my closet very often when I’m not in a sundress since the shoe comes up so high on my leg. I wore them a couple times to dinner in Italy last summer, but they’re definitely car-to-curb shoes (gotta do what you gotta do). This lower-laced option is what I’d buy now; the height is easy to pair with short or longer dresses.
I’m thinking of packing a few white dresses, printed rompers and crochet pieces on my trip to mix and match. I’ll be heading to Barcelona, Ibiza, Rome and Portofino this summer – I haven’t yet been to Ibiza or Portofino and so looking forward to exploring. Any favorite recommendations, please send them my way!
