Desert Getaway

I’ve been hearing about the Korakia in Palm Springs for a while, and the charming Pensione and hot desert air didn’t disappoint.

Do any of you have a favorite Palm Springs hotel for a quick getaway? I love the Parker for it’s quirky artwork glamorous setting, but I was excited to try something new. July isn’t usually prime desert time of year (it’s blistering hot with thick air and little breeze) but it’s still beautiful and the relaxed vibe out of LA is refreshing. I usually only visit Palm Springs during the Coachella spring season or perhaps later in the fall when temperatures drop. The drive is so easy (so long as you leave before afternoon) and the beginning stretch of windmills at the entry into the desert is always nostalgic. This time, I joined my friends from Foray Collective on a mini overnight stay with bebe to shoot some fun summer looks and take a little time out from my average day. With me were Paola, Pam, Sheryl and Kelsey. I love and appreciate these opportunities to travel with other bloggers. To me the greatest part of blogging is the ability to connect with other girls who share my job and passion yet who come from different backgrounds and stories.

But back to this story – step instead the Korakia’s charming courtyard and you’re met with lots of white washed walls, romantic tea lights, and Moroccan-inspired doors. Simply put, it’s magical yet understated. First up was this denim on denim look – simple for summer and good for staying cool(er) in the heat. I paired it with a Soukie Modern clutch, which I’ve worn before on the blog and love for it’s unique print.

The gorgeous entry into the Korakia from the street, and fountain scattered with rose petals.

Scattered across the hotel property are little daybeds with blankets and tea lights, surrounded by greenery and cacti with the pool steps away. I loved this little corner.

This red plunge dress and olive high-low dress were a fun way to play with color in such a bright setting. I don’t usually opt for such low-cut styles but when in 100 degree heat, dress appropriately right!! I can see this paired with flat ankle-strap sandals and a denim jacket.

Ending our shoot on a high note with a desert shot (and so much wind). If you’re looking for a Palm Springs hotel, highly recommend this one – email me for any more info! I’ve listed all the looks below.
