Crosby Street

Zimmermann dress, Lamarque jacket, Schutz shoes, Illesteva sunglasses, Chanel bag

Sivan and I stayed at The NOMO Soho hotel on Crosby Street, which I’d never been to before but proved to be a nice little escape from all the fashion week mayhem.

The NOMO is on Crosby street in a charming little area of Soho next to a row of boutiques and just a stone’s throw away from most of the studios where shows are held, which made it easier to Uber around. I’ve stayed in different areas of the city for past fashion weeks and I definitely think if you’re planning to go, Soho is a great area to stay in. Every morning we’d walk to Jack’s Wife Freda and the hotel has a pretty courtyard out front that lights up at night. Our room was small but comfortable and had an amazing skyline view from the 17th floor. There was always a photoshoot happening on Crosby, whether it be bloggers with a photographer or a full-on editorial shoot with lighting and assistants. The fashion week energy was as vibrant as ever.

The week prior to leaving for NYC I was on the hunt for a few special fashion week pieces and I found this gorgeous paisley dress at Zimmermann while shopping with Kat. If you’re in LA near Melrose Place you must stop in there just for a peek; the space is airy and the clothes just get better and better each season. I’m pretty sure Zimmermann has raised their prices a bit, which is never fun to realize AFTER you try on your dream dress and check the tag, but I had already fallen in love with this number so it was too late for reasoning at that point. I ended up with two pieces, this dress and a romper (I’ll be posting it later this week too) and I’m considering them investment pieces. Zimmermann’s patterns are great for dressing up or down, so I’ll wear this with sandals and a hat as easily as with heels and a leather jacket as I did here. This pink dress is a similar option with a darker print and ruffled sleeves.

My paisley dress print comes in so many versions: a sleeveless top, which is a bit friendlier price point, a long-sleeved blouse (so pretty tucked into leather pants), and a mini dress version. I paired it here with my go-to black leather jacket (it’s a few years old at this point, but this one is similar) and lace-up blush heels.

I realized while shooting and posting these photos that I used to wear more pink than I do now, and it creates such a lovely vibe. It can be off-putting to those who don’t consider themselves “pink” girls, but blush tones are so sophisticated and can be easily toughened up with a leather jacket. The black paisley print makes this one easily pairable with darker accessories if you’re wary (same with this one).

After poking around for the Shop the Style bar below I found so many dresses I have my eye on now: this embroidered mini dress with a neck tie (so good with over the knee boots), this subtly printed wrap dress, and this crepe and lace number. Wear them with a similarly toned shoe like these strappy cage heels or this pair that ties at the ankle.
