The Bow Back

Zimmermann romper, Schutz shoes, Illesteva sunglasses, Chanel bag

If I could sum up my most perfect vision of an outfit, this comes pretty close.

Zimmermann has to be one of my favorite designers for obvious reasons. Every piece is so delicate and gorgeous and this bow back, flared sleeve romper is no exception. I wore it during NYFW and can’t wait to wear it again. I found a few favorite similar pieces – this satin-like robe romper just shot to the top of my list (and it’s inexpensive!) as well as this blush-shaded lacy playsuit.

This is a short but sweet post for photos, but I wanted to thank you all for such awesome and engaging feedback on my last post about the business of blogging and the landscape of digital influencers. I loved reading through every single comment (on here as well as on Instagram), checking out some of the blogs you all write yourselves, and hearing everyone’s opinion on the matter. It was clear that the majority of you feel the same way I do about the power of this community and what it’s capable of, and I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation – both the good and the bad.

I would love to know what other topics you’re interested in, and if blogging itself (my own experience with both blogging and the fashion industry, where I find inspiration, blogging tips and tricks..)  is something you’d like to hear more about besides the usual fashion posts I write. I get a lot of emails and requests for beauty and hair posts in addition to style, so I try put my focus there, but let’s be real – talking only about clothing and makeup constantly can get a little boring.  I really loved the opportunity to dig a little deeper in my last post, and sit with my thoughts until I knew I had something valuable to share.

Blogging is a funny thing, because it’s about connecting with your audience and sharing your life publicly with people you don’t know. It’s a tricky balance to know how personal to get. Some bloggers really go for it, and their sites become more of a diary in addition to their fashion content. Writing personal details about my life has been something I’ve shied away from in the past simply because it’s an intimidating boundary to cross. I started my blog almost 4 years ago, and I’ve already changed so much just within that period – not just in personal style but as a person. I’ve always kept AFS within the real of fashion, beauty and lifestyle content. My friends tell me that I’m much funnier, more candid, and weirder “in real life” than I appear to me on here – which makes total sense, because on my site I strive to put together beautiful content but you can’t edit your day to day life and raw conversations! It’s had me thinking recently that I’d love to share more “real life” on my blog. I want to make this platform as engaging and interesting as I can so I can better connect with you all. At the end of the day, this is all about having a conversation.

So, if you have any specific topic requests for blog posts, or just questions about me you’d like answered (about anything at all!), leave them in the comments below and I’ll put everything into a more personal “about me” post. Sound good?
