There’s the holiday dress, and then there’s the holiday jumpsuit.
The holiday dress is classic: red, sequins, LBD… but this year I’m so into jumpsuits as an alternative. Mostly for functional purposes: it’s one piece, they’re usually comfy, you can go to town at dinnertime, and best of all they look polished with minimal effort. This black jumpsuit meets all the requirements for party season and I love the lace over the shoulder detail – it’s currently 30% off at Shopbop. It has two thin spaghetti straps, but I tucked them inside to make it strapless. The elastic front is tight enough to stay put all night.
I found so many jumpsuits online – this sheer lace one is subtly sexy but still covered up. I’d wear it with a black bralette underneath and simple black sandal. The YSL sandals I’m wearing in this post were an investment shoe; I’ve worn them countless times every season for the past couple years. To be totally honest the Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” is such a similar shoe that I usually recommend those to friends instead; they’re still not a steal but the price is better for a staple shoe and they’re more comfortable (Stuart Weitzman seems to pay more attention to the comfort element of their shoes, which I love). I own a pair of the Nudist’s in beige that I wear all the time too. If you’re looking for a similar style to buy right now, these Steve Madden strappy sandals are perfect.
I thought I wouldn’t do it… but I’m officially on board with the choker trend. I’m usually never a trend girl but I must agree lace chokers are so flattering and easy to wear. This lace one was literally $5 from Forever21 (but looks pretty nice next to the Gucci bag right?!). If I’d seen this lace wrap choker, I would have bought it first; I love the detail. I also love this sweet doily lace choker, this simple wrap choker with gold ends, and this festive jeweled choker – wear it with a simple wrap jumpsuit to stand out as the main attraction.
