Life As of Late

Unreal Fur vest c/o, AG jeansFurla bag, Stuart Weitzman booties

Life as of late has been full of travel and birthday celebrations.

I hope you’re all doing well as it’s been a minute since I put up a post! A lot of fun things have happened in the past month: first off, it was my 25th birthday last week! Thanks to all who sent kind messages on Instagram; it was so special to see those and really made my day. I love birthdays but they’re also a little strange.. so much anticipation and then 24 hours later it’s just another day. I have a few very close friends from college my age who I’ve stayed in touch with despite where we all moved after graduation (my roommates moved to NYC, Dallas and Milan). Otherwise, my best friends in LA and the girls I see most often are a few years older than me yet we’re all totally on the same page of life. So, age seems to blur and it’s funny to remember I’m often the youngest one in the room.

I didn’t make big plans this year, so my boyfriend and I decided to take a last minute trip up to Park City for a ski weekend (last minute meaning, we decided at 7:55pm to rush to the airport and get on the last 9:55pm flight out). We had a super fun weekend skiing, pigging out at the Deer Valley lodge and sitting by the fire. Coming home on Monday night (my actual birthday), I thought we were just going to dinner us two, but he had secretly invited six of my closest friends plus my parents to surprise me. Dinner was at Soho’s Little Beach House on the water and I’m pretty sure I peed my pants whenI walked into the room and they all screamed (apparently the hostess had already ruined the surprise by telling us we were “the last of your party to arrive!” but I didn’t notice this).

Of course coming off the flight I hadn’t packed anything festive, only had a casual LBD lying around. I also waited until the last second to get ready and he dropped no hints about looking nice and said it was super casual (if you’re reading this.. why!!) Nevertheless none of that mattered because it was a beautiful night with wonderful people, and I felt so lucky to share the day with those whom I love. Shoutout to Sivan for driving to Malibu during The Bachelor finale – if you know her at all, missing this is a big deal) and to Annie for driving to LA from San Diego!

To continue the celebrations, last weekend we drove up the coast to Big Sur, which I HIGHLY recommend adding to your list for those of you planning a California trip or already in LA. It’s sort of off season right now for the resorts there, but I actually preferred this time of year to warmer summer weather. We stayed at Treebones Resort and did the “glamping” experience in a yurt – it was so fun! It’s very comfortable but still feels like you’re immersed in nature. The lodge had amazing food, a sushi bar and little pool, all a short walk away from our yurt. We woke up every morning to thick fog rolling in, hiked, played a lot of backgammon (there’s no cell phone service, hence my lack of posts). It was the perfect way to end my birthday. If anyone has questions about the resort let me know! Next trip I’m excited to check out the beautiful Post Ranch Inn.

Anyway, about this outfit –  LA is still in the middle of a winter-spring confusion period where rain comes and goes so I’ve been wearing a faux fur black vest with dark wash jeans and black booties a lot lately. Now that it’s officially spring fur seems like a bit much, but that’s the beauty of a vest, right? Open arms but body stays warm! I also love a white faux fur to throw on with lighter colors. This studded Furla bag goes with everything and adds some extra edge. It also comes in an even smaller mini crossbody size which I love too.

BTW, go to the café in these photos, Carerra Cafe (on Melrose) for the best chai tea latte of your life. I wasn’t a big fan of chai until I tried this one and it tastes a bit like gingerbread in the best way possible. After this one I’ve been expecting every chai to be the same, sadly this one is just unique! Find all my outfit links below.
