Best of Summer Statement Sunglasses

Monday Swimwear dress, Valentino shoes, Alice & Olivia sunglasses, Cult Gaia bag, Eriness earrings

… Say that fives times fast! A statement sunglass instantly elevates even the simplest white tee and cutoff shorts.

In my opinion, you need two pairs of sunglasses in your life. One: your go-to, everyday, neutral coloring pair that works with anything pair. Two: a fun, out-there pair with some personality.

These flower jewel-embellished sunglasses are practically a piece of jewelry by themselves. I worked my whole outfit around these: throwing on a simple black cotton sunglasses, a structured bag, minimal jewelry and hair pulled back to emphasis the shades. What I love about them is that although they’re a statement piece, I don’t think they’re “trendy” because the flower details sit upon a very classic cat-eye shape. Unlike other trendy pieces, I think I’ll still be pulling these out in a couple years and they’ll feel fresh. Alice & Olivia kind of wins the sunglass game – all their shapes and designs are statement-worthy, glamorous and fun like this round Gatsby-inspired pair. They’re not cheap, but these are pieces to be thought of like a special pair of sunglasses… not like the kind you lose or sit on in the car (been there).

That being said, there are plenty of fun statement shades for under $100. I love these bubble-pink cat eyes  ($55), these clear and gold lens and these gorgeous white pearl cat-eyes (also $55). If you’re a fan of colored lenses, these blush pink lens against a white frame are for you.

If round is your shape, these tortoise circular sunnies are a good summer to fall transition pair. I’ve found round sunglasses to be surprisingly easier to wear then most people think, especially if you have a smaller face or a defined face shape. For rounder faces, it’ll still work – just choose a pair that resembles a hexagon instead of a circle. The added lines in the frame will add some definition but the overall effect still feels “round.” This rose gold pair fits the bill perfectly – in fact, it’s in my shopping cart online right now!

Find all the frames I mentioned, and more, below in my “Shop the Style” bar.
