I’m been looking for a pair of fall flared jeans this past month and was surprised how hard it’s been to find a match. Anyone feel me? Most pairs I try on are way too long for my 5’6 frame and need some serious hemming. I though I had a winner the other day at Intermix but laughed when I held it up to me – the whole pant came up to my chest! Can anyone under 5’10 wear these off the hanger?! Plus, the size of the flare needs to be just right – wide enough to flounce a little while walking but not big enough to look sloppy.

I decided on these 7FAM dark wash flares that are in between a boot cut and a full flare. The color and fit is flattering since it fits like a skinny jean until the knee and then subtly flares out. I’m still looking for a fuller flare (a real, 70’s bell bottom), so if you have suggestions I’m all years! Until then, I find this pair a LOT easier to wear and style. I paired them with burgundy accessories, which is my favorite fall-winter shade. I feel like burgundy always comes back each autumn (sometimes re-branded as a trendy “oxblood,” “wine,” or “garnet”) but really the same thing, and for good reason – it’s flattering, easier to wear then red and feels luxe for cooler months.

These Free People flares are under $80 and are the perfect color wash – next on my list to try. I found more burgundy hat options below too! x
