I love the sharp look of a blouse and trouser, but it all depends on the fit.
Tops always seem too long over pants, and the extra fabric can kill the clean look. If you tuck in, there’s usually extra fabric involved, or bulky bunching – my pet peeve! This black and white jumpsuit (currently 25% off from the Ted Baker sale) is a sneaky piece – it appears to be a white top flowing above a pair of black drawstring pants, but it’s one perfectly coordinated piece, no tucking required.
I’d wear this to a meeting or dress it up at night. It’s chic and tailored; pretty much foolproof for any occasion. I threw a cropped black leather jacket over it for evening.
I’ve been on the fence on the whole mule sandal thing, since I wasn’t sure if the thick strap at the base of the foot would cut off my frame (if I can do anything to appear taller, I always try!) I’ve changed my mind after wearing these metallic silver mules. I’ve paired them with jeans and dresses this week and I actually find that the strap is very flattering – it compliments any cropped pant that reaches the ankle (also, as someone who owns way too many lace-up heels, I love how easy on and off they are).
Now that spring is in full force I look for any opportunity to take photos by blooming bougainvilleas. Beachwood Canyon is just full of them – if you’re near Hollywood it’s worth a detour down Beachwood Drive to see them covering the perimeter of every other home; the Hollywood Sign peeking out from above.
